A week into the New Year and I'm just getting used to the idea...hence the late blog post. This happens every year. Although I am excited for what 2013 will bring it is a little bittersweet to say goodbye to 2012.
Here are two reasons why....
First, Sean lost his dad this year. It still makes me very sad and I can't even imagine how Sean and his brothers feel...family full of boys and SO not talkers! Not a day goes by where I don't think about him and what he meant to me. I'll never forget the one time in 10+ years that he hugged me because that just never happened with Tim, but he knew I needed it and so he did. He was such a fun and involved grandfather-calling and stopping by to see Parker all the time, but never stayed too long because he didn't want to get in my way :) Sean was getting Parker dressed a few days ago and put him in a t-shirt that was made for the boys for Tim's memorial and Parker asked him where Old School was....he made a lasting impression on a two year that will never fade. He'd probably kill me for writing this about him, but oh well. Just want to and part me of me needs to.
Next, we completed our family! Peyton is just what we needed to finally be able to say 'we are a family of four' That is to say that no oopsies happen in the future! LOL It's so funny how you forget what it's like to have a new baby in the house in just a matter of a few years. The sleepless nights, that unforgettable newborn cry, spit up on what seems like everything. And it's heart warming to know that I will never forget that feeling I had when she first started smiling at me or that sound they make when they are trying to laugh. She has certainly tested our patience a few times, but I wouldn't trade her for the world. Like I said, she is what made us feel complete as a family.
As for resolutions this year...I'm keeping it simple.
1-Smile everyday (a lot). I know this will be easy to do!
2-Enjoy the small things- sleeping in, help with laundry, smiles people give me :)
3-Stay true to the things important to me- friends and family.
4-Be healthy and feel good.
Thanks for reading! What will you never forget about 2012, and what do you look forward to in 2013??
